Wednesday, October 2nd - Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 6

Thursday, October 3rd - Grade 7 to Grade 12

The event will begin with a school competition held TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24TH on the football field immediately after school. Regional and provincial competitions will follow. Provincial winners in each age group and event will be invited to Regina (some expenses paid) and presented with their prizes at the Saskatchewan Roughriders vs. Calgary Stampeders game on October 26, 2023.

The competition is open to all students born in the year 2010 or later. The sign up sheet posted next to the big gym doors.

An optional practice time is available Monday, September 23rd right after school on the football field. All dates are weather dependent.

Every Child Matters. On Friday, September 27th, we wear orange to honour the survivors of residential schools and those who never made it home.

Look at Me Grow! is a student engagement activity. This activity encourages our students and families to connect with their neighbours, families, and friends, volunteer and clean up the community, be active, and spend more meaningful time as a family. This activity also encourages them to learn and try new or uncomfortable things, help around the house, and express their love for others in their lives.

Click on the link below or open the attached document to view the activity list. Each student can print off the list (paper copies are also available at school) and ask a parent or teacher to check off an item as they complete it. The student with the most items checked off by June 1st will win a prize. The prize is a Season Swim Pass for the student for the community pool, sponsored by the SCC. Please give a big thank you to our SCC members.

We hope every student will participate and discover the impact these small activities can have on their wellness and academic experience.  Families are encouraged to tackle these activities together whenever possible, and we will, occasionally, request you to share photos of your family fun.

HBCS is experiencing an outage of telephone service - we are unable to make outgoing calls and incoming calls will just ring and ring. If you need to communicate with the school, please send an Edsby message to teachers or administration. If you are using the App:

1. Open Edsby
2. Click on the "envelope" icon to open the messages window (bottom middle of screen)
3. Click on the "pencil" icon (top right corner of screen)
4. In the Enter Recipients box, start typing the person's name you wish to send a message to (e.g. Beco to send a message to Miss Becotte/Admin Assistant) then choose the name.
5. Type your message in the Enter you message area then click send.

A repair timeline has not been determined however we will let you know as soon as things are back up and running!

The issues affecting HBCS telephones have yet to be repaired however there is now access to basic telephone service, meaning incoming and outgoing calls can be made. That said, there is limited abilities so we ask parents/caregivers to please keep calls to a minimum. Edsby and/or student agendas are an effective alternative for those non-emergency communications.

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

The SRC is once again excited to be organizing a holiday dinner for all our students and staff on Friday, December 20^th.

We are asking students to volunteer to bring food or other items. Please click the link in red below to access the Google form and see the list of items. Access to the form can also be had by visiting the school Facebook page or via the email sent to your inbox this morning. You can also call the school at 865-2515 to ask to be added to the list of items. If you have more than one child in the school, we are asking for your participation only once.

Non-perishable items can be brought to the school at any time. Fresh items can be brought to the school December 17^th - 19^th. 

The SRC will be responsible for the rest of the meal which includes turkey, dressing, gravy, potatoes, etc. We are looking forward to your child's participation to make this holiday dinner a wonderful tradition for many years to come. Policy 114 - School Viability Review

At the June 18, 2024, Regular Board Meeting the North East School Division Board approved the amendments made to Board Policy 114 – School Viability Review.

The Board Policy was substantively updated to reflect current legislation.  In addition, an appendix was created to clearly articulate timelines. The revised policy was publicly posted on June 20, 2024.

Dear NESD Families:

Welcome to the start of the 2024-25 school year.   As many families know or may have heard, Transportation Services of the North East School Division has faced some challenging times that have led to temporary cancellations of many bus routes.  We understand how critical reliable transportation is to your daily routines, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Current route cancellations are due to several factors: a shortage of mechanics, receiving replacement parts, a lack of casual bus drivers, and delays in the delivery of new buses, initially expected in May 2024 but now postponed to October. Additionally, seven buses from 2020 or newer are out of service due to warranty work. The school division is actively working with the bus vendor to ensure these buses return to operation as soon as possible.

We are working diligently to get our buses back on the road, utilizing third-party assistance for bus maintenance ensuring our busses meet all safety standards before being put into service. To address staffing shortages, we are increasing our recruitment efforts.  In the meantime, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through these challenges.

The safety and well-being of our students remain our top priority, and we are committed to improving our services despite these challenges. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Transportation Services at 306-873-4555 or transportation@nesd.ca.

Under authority of Section 85(1)(i) and Section 122(1) of The Education Act, 1995 the Board of Education made the following motion at their meeting held September 17, 2024:

Yesterday a bus driver and 27 of our Tisdale Middle and Secondary students were involved in a school bus accident that occurred shortly after school near Kinistin. Some were airlifted for medical attention, and we were informed that some have serious injuries.  For further details, please see the RCMP statement released later today.

We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to all the emergency responders and health practitioners for their quick response and care to all those involved. On behalf of all of us at NESD we are sending our healing thoughts and wishes for a quick recovery to those involved.

Yesterday a bus driver and 27 of our Tisdale Middle and Secondary students were involved in a school bus accident that occurred shortly after school near Kinistin. Some were airlifted for medical attention, and we were informed that some have serious injuries.  For further details, please see the RCMP statement released later today.

We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to all the emergency responders and health practitioners for their quick response and care to all those involved. On behalf of all of us at NESD we are sending our healing thoughts and wishes for a quick recovery to those involved.
