Our HBCS SCC is please to present “TechTalk 101” with Linda Lawrence on Monday, October 20th. Laura will be speaking to our students during the school day and is offering an evening presentation at 6:00pm in the school auditorium. 

Everyone in the community is welcome to attend!
Parents are also welcome to attend with their student during the school day presentations if they wish:

This presentation focuses the world of social media and mental health. Participants will learn:
• how to talk about tech with youth and build trust and open communication;
• which apps and platforms pose the potential for the most harm to youth;
• how to set healthy boundaries with youth and within families with tech use;
• how to keep youth safer online;
• how to restore a relationship that may be compromised as a result of overuse of tech.

The Halloween Costume Parade will now be held from 11:15 - 12:15 tomorrow, October 31st, to accommodate high school schedules.

The SRC and SCC is once again excited to be organizing a holiday dinner for all our students and staff on Friday, December 19^th.

We are asking students to volunteer to bring food or other items. Please click the link below to access the Google form and see the list of items. Access to the form can also be had by visiting the school Facebook page or look for an email recently sent. You can also call the school at 865-2515 to ask to be added to the list of items. If you have more than one child in the school, we are asking for your participation only once.

11th Annual Holiday Dinner Form

If you are able to provide an item, please complete the form by Monday, December 15^th.

Non-perishable items can be brought to the school at any time. Fresh items can be brought to the school December 15^th - 18^th. 

The SRC will be responsible for the rest of the meal which includes turkey, dressing, gravy, potatoes, etc. We are looking forward to your child's participation to make this holiday dinner a wonderful tradition for many years to come. On Nov. 27^th, 2024, the Ministry of Education announced the development of a new Saskatchewan Student Assessment (SSA) program. More detailed information about the program is attached to this communication.

In the spring of 2026, NESD students in Grade 5 Math, Grade 9 Math, and Gr. 7 ELA will participate in a census field test.  A census field test is a province-wide trial run of the assessment procedures and questions.  No assessment results from the census field test will be provided to students, families, or school divisions as the purpose is to test the test only.

Additional information and updates about the SSA program and the field test will be provided as it becomes available.

Bus Cancellation Notice – January 16 (AM)
Due to winter road conditions, all NESD buses are cancelled this morning. Schools remain open. Families should use their discretion when traveling. Further updates will be shared at 11:00 for PM bussing.

On Nov. 27^th, 2024, the Ministry of Education announced the development of a new Saskatchewan Student Assessment (SSA) program. More detailed information about the program is attached to this communication.

In the spring of 2026, NESD students in Grade 5 Math, Grade 9 Math, and Gr. 7 ELA will participate in a census field test.  A census field test is a province-wide trial run of the assessment procedures and questions.  No assessment results from the census field test will be provided to students, families, or school divisions as the purpose is to test the test only.

Additional information and updates about the SSA program and the field test will be provided as it becomes available.
