I am originally from Willow Bunch, a small farming community in southern Saskatchewan. I grew up on a farm adjacent to the Big Muddy Valley. I am a farm girl at heart and love nature and animals. From a very young age I wanted to be a teacher. I attended the University of Regina and taught with the Regina Public School Division for several years. I moved to a farm at Prairie River where we grow crops and raise buffalo. I have a daughter attending the U of S. I have held the roles of teacher, Vice Principal and Principal. Being an administrator of a Pre-K to 12 community school is a challenge that I like. I wear many hats during the course of a day and work with many students, teachers, families and community members. I believe that “it takes a village to raise a child” and so the more support we have for our students the better. I am proud of the staff I work with including quality teachers, a super Vice Principal, a caring outreach worker, amazing Educational Associates, an incredible librarian, an amazing caretaking staff and two dedicated Administrative assistants. We are dedicated to “heart” work! Every day is a good day when you are engaged in student learning!
They say time flies when you are having fun. I have been a part of the school system in Hudson Bay for over 40 years! I started off as a student in the one room school in Erwood. When that school closed, I attended at Blake Beattie School, Stewart Hawke, then graduated from Hudson Bay Composite High School. After earning my degree, I had the opportunity to return to work as a teacher at HBCH. I enjoyed that a lot but had hopes of working in the office one day, so I returned to the U of S to work on my Master's in 2007. I was able to stay at HBCH until it closed in 2015. Later that same year, the community was very excited to open the doors of our beautiful new facility, Hudson Bay Community School. It has been an honour to be a part of this school. I enjoy so many things about being in a building with students from Pre-K to grade 12.
I currently live in Hudson Bay with my husband, daughter, and our pets. I enjoy time with friends and watching student sports. One of my favourite things to do is catch up with former students and see where life had taken them.
If you are new to the community or are considering a move to Hudson Bay......Welcome. We look forward to showing you what our school has to offer.
